Ulduar story PDF Print E-mail

Well Ulduar is not all that new anymore and it has been nerfed down to normal difficulty since the launch. It is now accessible to people geared with 10man encounters (initially Ulduar10 was balanced for 25man geared groups).

Right now I can't say Ulduar is really the top focus in the guild though. I mean - it is nice, but somehow it still has a snobish atmosphere to it, since one needs gear to have a chance there. I admit, it is nice to see new bosses and down them, but it will take time for all to gear up to bring the Ulduar into the comfort zone, so that the encounters won't need to be so stressful.

Well, as always - we are on the lookout for nice people.Your main objective cannot be gear, but doing stuff in good company. Gear, efficient boss downing and fast progress is not what we do or even wish to do. It makes absolutely no sense in trying to rush stuff in order to achieve some top gear (which will be put a little bit ahead in the next patch anyway). But by rushing, you are just robbing yourself of actually playing a nice game. You don't really need the best gear to do stuff. As always you will have fun, if you are enjoying your company. So this is what we are looking for. Feel free to register and join the forum.

ULDUAR

Tonight we go and have some fun in Ulduar. No requirements - we'll just figure things out as we go along. Just have some repair money handy. That's it.

It's that time of year again PDF Print E-mail

Yes, it's that time of year again.

I've just managed to clear up some stressful and frustrating work I was coping with on the job for the past few days and I've got some time to just relax and breathe... until tomorrow Wink. So - to the content...

We've grown a bit and the goal is to keep growing. The reason for it is to try and go for the guild 25mans. At the moment, we can do 25mans by filling up the group with pugs. But it has proven to be very stressfull and not really fun. I still don't know if 25mans can be fun - even with guild run, because the extra required coordination and more crowded raid gives less space for taking it easy. I'm not giving up on the hope though. It just might work out to be as good as 10mans. If any guild can pull off a fun 25man, it is this one.

Another goal is to put up some vanilla and bc raids. It should be interesting to see the old content and just ignore the loot. And do that without a pug. We'll need to be careful to not interfere with the Naxx runs though, so the best way to schedule them would be sometime during the weekend afternoon (3pm-7pm).

As for Ulduar Cool, the day it comes out - we'll be there. Maybe this week. Common Blizz, get your stuff out. It's not even funny anymore, how long you're cooking this one.

I'm a Slashdot reader and once in a while a gem comes up.

This is from the comments and it's rather good. You can consider this to be the guild rules from now on.

  1. Treat everyone with respect in public, and don't talk shit about them behind their backs
  2. Find out what people are good at and don't expect them to be good at things they are not.
  3. Give people things they are not good at to see if they can grow, but don't get upset if they can't.
  4. Set, manage, and understand expectations, in all directions
  5. Get rid of mean people, information hoarders, and selfish people, they are always poison and can't be changed
  6. Give others the credit, and always take the blame. Sort out the rest out in private.
  7. Suggestions are better than directives, use directives sparingly.

Raid And Calendar Guidelines PDF Print E-mail

Yuw, I'm putting up a short post on the raid guidelines. Feel free to discuss on the forum.

The first topic is the in-game calendar. This is how it should be used:

* Anyone can put up a new event. But bear in mind that being the raid leader, it is up to you to keep up the good will and positive atmosphere that is the trademark of Canned Heat. Be honest, be fair, be positive.

* If you do not know if you can attend the event - do not Accept.

* If you would like to attend the event, but will not make it on time - do not Accept. I suggest you send raidleader an in-game mail with your wish to attend, but that you cannot accept because of being late. This won't guarantee you a spot later on, but if possible (considering raid composition and how it's going) you will likely get an invite later on.

* If you don't intend to attend the event - Reject

* If you intend to attend the event and if you intend to be on time for the event - Accept. As usual, common-sense applies - for 10man, all 12 dps, 6 healers and 8 tanks Sealed who accepted, wont make it in...etc

The raid leader will try to put together a team that has a chance of a nice run. At the raid building time he is the only guy who has the say on who comes and who does not come for the start. When you accepted the raid event in calendar, you have effectively voted him the leader, so let him lead.

As always - raid leader can and should change raid setup when that is required. This means swapping dps, healers and tanks for melee/ranged abilities, cc abilities, dps/hps/damage mitigation abilities. I don't think this will be used a lot, but it will be used. Specially because the guild policy is to always mix in undergeared people. Do not go bananas when you get replaced - because eventually you will get replaced. Going bananas for that is the fastest to get gkicked.

So after reading this, if you are asking yourself, how can we still refuse to be defined as a raiding guild? Because raiding guild means "ooooh shinies" and "gief" and "imba". And I'm kind of like .... fuck that Embarassed.

--------

Update: You do need to set up TeamSpeak(TS) for raid. The only time we will require TS will actually be  on though bosses requiring coordination. Also you'll need it the first few times you will attend a raid with the guild - after you know the the encounters, you can easily skip it for the easy bosses. Now this was about the TS from the what is required point-of-view. But that's like soo not what TS is. I'm hooked on it for listening in on the silly escapades that find their way into the ether. The practical side is - well practical, but the fun part is priceless.

--------

(I will be updating this stuff with any stuff that comes up in the forum... So changes pending :)
